1st service done and dusted

August 10th, 2008

Having covered an easy 1200 miles it was time to get the bike serviced at Blackbear in Newmarket. I arrived at 08:45 and was quickly booked in and advised of the costs for the job in hand. They took the keys off of me and pointed me to the free coffee and lockers so that I could dump my riding gear off whilst waiting.

CaptainSlow of UKBEG fame came down and handed out a load of doughnuts for all to munch on which was a nice way to start life Buell style. Some of the Harley’s at Blackbear were amazing. The sound was like thunder as they poored into the carpark. it seems that Blackbear is not just a dealer but a place for Harley and Buell owners to meet up and socialise.

As part of the service the guys fited the Maz Breather Mod to my bike. This is basically a load of pipes that redirect the internal combustion gasses out of circulation and into the atmosphere. This addition is meant ot make the engine run smoother and stop all the nasty emulsified oils getting recirculated back into the engine. The bikes covered in crud after a wet ride home but I will take a picture of the new pipework for all to see when i’ve cleaned Mr Buell up a tad.

As I said above, the ride home was wet and as usual my back was wetter than my front. I reckon I need to get a coat to go over my bike jacket even though thats also wateproof…

Anyway, good job done with amazing hospitality from the staff at Blackbear.
