Week 4 700 miles in
April 6th, 2009
All’s settling down nicely with the 1125r. Got a couple of tweaks to make when the bike goes in for its first service but nothing serious. One of the changes between the 2008 spec r’s and the 2990 spec bikes is that the front brake line is routed differently. On my bike its passing down between the forks and is making contact with the front mudguard and if left it’ll eventually wear so I have asked Blackbear to re-route the hose to the outside of the fork to save long term damage to the hose or plastic mudguard.
Ive fitted a clutch resovoir ram mount to the left hand bar and can now use my Garmin GPS on the bike when needed. Thats assuming the weathers good coz my GPS is not waterproof. Cant get approval from the bank of wife to splash out on a Zumo or the like at the moment so for now it’ll have to wait.
Lucky enough to have a few days off work and popped out for a quick 200 mile blast to Hunstanton in Norfolk taking the long way where ever possible. This was my first longer trip on the bike and It’s a pretty good distance bike. The overtaking grunt is excellent. You can even leave it in 6th gear and blast past the traffic as and when a space becomes available. I wasn’t riding in a careful manner but was easily able to achieve 44mpg so I reckon a good 170 mile tank can be achieved when required. Not bad for a litre bike.
The bikes booked in to Blackbear next weekend for its first service. It happens to be Buell day that day too so no doubt I’ll bump in to the odd buelligan…
Below are a few pics of my day’s blast into Norfolk and back.
