July Update
July 28th, 2009
Not posted much in the way of updates re my bike and kit recently so thought i’d finally put finger to keyboard and update you all on what’s happening in Fatbiker land.
The bikes up at 3250 miles now and going very well indeed. The components are not showing much in the way of corrosion that the CityX showed after only a month or so. I do wash it down every week with a good quality cleaner but that’s it. The finish is holding out. Well done Erik! I have been fiddling with the suspension settings and am currently running it a tad harder than before to see how it handles through the bends. The down side is that country lanes become a chore to ride down at any speed. Rear tyre still has 1000 or so miles left on it but when it does come to replacing it i reckon I’ll go for the same tyre again. Its amazing. Sticks in the wet and dry…
As per my previous posts I have replaced my helmet over the past month with the X-Lite 701. Its a tad draughty around the ears but not serious. Build quality appears to be excellent though. The visor removal mechanism is great and makes cleaning the helmet easy. The bluetooth kit that Mike from ultimate Bike Gear fitted is so cool. Make sure you read my posts about it. Its the future….
My BKS leather jacket that I purchased a year back is still as new. Its a very costly item so does not come out when the weathers poor but its so comfortable and fits me like a glove. One thing to note though. Dont eat too many burgers though. It cant be made any bigger… The one and only down side to such a jacket is the physical weight of it. You dont notice it when wearing but it weights a tonne when carrying it about.
The furygan summer gloves that Mike supplied me with are loosening off nicely now. they were very tight initially but Mike did advise that they just needed time. They are so cool when the weathers hot. they aren’t cheap though but I reckon they’ll last 3 or 4 summers so they’ll repay me in longevity.
I’m hoping to get a call from the guys at Haywards of Cambridge soon about the Royal Enfield Clubman EFI. They did have one in stock but royal Enfield recalled them to perform a gearbox mod. Looking forward to a ride out on this bike and I hope to get some pictures posted up online ASAP for your viewing.
Enough typing for now. I’m off home, taking the long way round. If you’re not on two wheels and are reading this, go out and get a scooter, take your CBT test and take a road trip. you dont know what you’re missing…
