Buelly gets a TPS reset

I purchased a USB ECM cable off another Bueller from the UKBEG website last week and last night it arrived. 10 minutes later I’ve got ecmspy installed on an old computer and I’m looking at the soul of my Buell.

Let’s go back a step and talk about ecmspy. This windows application is a product kindly written by a load of Buell owners that allows you to interrogate your bikes onboard computer. You can perform basic tasks like resetting the TPS (throttle position sensor) to more advanced stuff like remapping the bikes fuelling. For now my only interest is the basic stuff.

All you do is plug said lead into the computer on the bike, run up ecmspy, turn on the bikes ignition and then select online on your pc. It then connects and shows you the stats of your ECM including error codes and so on.

My job for my first session was the TPS. The engines been a touch rough since new and the TPS was the culprit. 5 minutes later it’s job done and time for a ride out.

I recommend ecmspy to all buellers out there. It’s a free tool except for the cable that is and it’ll save you having to go to your dealer for basic tweaks.
